Marilyn Shazor currently serves as chief executive officer of Metro Transit System. In this role she leads the $90 million dollar organization and its 900 employees. She is the first female and person of color to do so. Prior to this role, Shazor served Metro as chief operations officer. Previously, Shazor oversaw human resources, marketing and legal services at the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority. Shazor also worked in the automotive industry as general manager of human resources for supplier Green Tokai. In this role she spearheaded an organizational development program whose processes assisted in bridging the communications gap between Japanese staff and American Managers and employees. Shazor also served in the U.S. Army where she managed the administrative operations of a unit of 700 personnel and coordinated their return from the Gulf War. She holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the United States Military Academy; and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.  Shazor is a member of the 2010 class of The Broad Superintendents Academy.
