PAUL GILL

The Broad Superintendents Academy Class of 2007
Assistant Superintendent, Operational Support Services
Alvord Unified School District, Calif.
Colonel

“One of the most important things we do in life is to provide a proper education for the children in our society. Far too often, many of us leave that important responsibility to others, especially after our own children have grown. I am eager to bring people–students, parents, teachers, and members of the community–together to improve the opportunities we offer our youth in an urban school setting.”

In February 2009, Paul Gill was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Operational Support Services for Alvord Unified School District, a district serving over 20,000 students in 20 schools. Previously, Gill served as Chief Operations Officer for Pittsburgh Public Schools, with responsibility for the district’s facilities, operations, pupil transportation, food service and school police. Prior to entering education, Gill served as the Senior Vice President, Regional Operations, for American Dental Partners, a leading dental practice management services organization. In this role, he supervised the company's California operations. He has also served as the Administrator for Riverside Dental Group. Colonel Gill had a distinguished 23-year career with the U.S. Air Force. His last assignment was Wing Commander at March Air Force Base in California. As Wing Commander, he oversaw a workforce of 4,000 during Operation Desert Storm. Colonel Gill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Duquesne University, a Master of Science in Communications/Broadcast Media from Syracuse University, and a Master of Arts in History from Creighton University.  Gill is a graduate of the 2007 class of The Broad Superintendents Academy.
