DORENE HURT

The Broad Superintendents Academy Class of 2009
Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army's Service Chair and Faculty at the ICAF
U.S. Army, Va.
Colonel (Ret.)

“As a lifelong learner, I have benefitted from rich educational experiences abroad and in America’s public schools. Having been actively engaged in supporting schools and mentoring young people for decades, it is clear that we have an educational crisis that demands not only the overall commitment of our nation but the most talented professionals leading this effort. The U.S. can not assure opportunity for all of its citizens nor succeed in the global economy without the foundation of a great, not good, education. A staunch believer in the verse “To Whom Much is Given Much is Required,” I am committed to being a part of the strategic solutions that will truly make a difference in the lives of young people. To do otherwise is unthinkable.”

Colonel Dorene Hurt most recently completed 31 years of military service including almost five years as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army’s Service Chair and faculty at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF), National Defense University.
